Itinerary Description:

Day 01 :


Arrive Cochin is  the   natural  harbour created   by   the  famed underwater   Malabar  mud-banks whose  quality  ensures  that the  rougher the  seas  are outside the calmer  the  waters are  within the  Harbour.Vasco-de-Gama   placed  it on  the world map. Afternoon sightseeing of Cochin. Cochin is known as the “Queen of the Arabian Sea,” Kochi (Cochin) entices with a rich cultural legacy dating back to the 15th century. Overnight at Cochin.


Day 02 :


Tour of the city and in the evening enjoy kathakali dance show. Morning sightseeing of Cochin . Visit the Mattancherry Dutch Palace - open from 10.00 to 15.00 hrs.(closed on Fridays and public holidays), which was built by the Portuguese in 1555  and renovated by the Dutch in 1663.  In the ancient rooms are 17th century murals that relate in vibrant colour the story of the epic Ramayana.  Visit a  Jewish Synagogue - open 10.00 to 12.00 hrs. & 15.00 to 17.00 hrs.(closed on all Saturdays and Jewish holidays) in Jew Town and Fort Cochin Area - Legend dates Jewish trade with Kerala from the times of King Solomon. There are a couple of streets of picture-postcard houses out of another age, in 17th century Dutch and traditional Kerala styles. Visit St. Francis Church - open from 09.00 to 13.00 hrs. and 14.30 to 17.30 hrs.(closed for visitors on Sundays from 08.00 to 11.00 hrs.) the oldest European Church in India. It has several antiquities including a wealth of records. These include a palm-leaf title deed the local Raja gave the Portuguese in 1503.  See the Chinese Fishing Nets, along the tip of Fort Cochin unique to this part of Kerala and living symbols of a centuries-old Chinese influence on this coast.  Evening attend a performance of the world-renowned Kathakali dancers tonight, enjoying Kerala’s highly evolved classical form of dance, drama and music dating back 400 years. The interesting part would be seeing the dress up of the performers before the dance. The way they colour themselves with natural products collected from the nature. Overnight at Cochin.


Day 03 :


Drive to Munnar. (135 kms/03 hrs) P.M. Tour of the town. Munnar is situated at the confluence of three mountain streamed, mudrapuzha, nallathanni and kundala. 1600 m above sea level, this hill station was once the summer resort of the east while british govt. in south india. sprawling tea plantations, picture-book towns, winding lanes and holiday facilities make this a popular hill station.  among the exotic flora found in the forests and grass land here is the neelakurinji. this flower, which bathes the hills in blue every twelve years.  Panoramic views of low-flying clouds and mist filled valleys make it a pretty little heaven with a cool bracing climate. It was opened up out of virgin forests a century ago by pioneering planters. Within its remote and elderly churches - gracious, stone-structures with ancient chandeliers and rosewood pews. A little beyond lays Anaimudi, South India's highest peak. In the vicinity is the Eravikulam National Park, the home of the endangered NilgiriTahr thatroams on a stretch of grassland or is seen climbing the pinnacles of the undulating hills . Later  sightseeing trip of Munnar watch beautiful mist kissing romantic green meadows- mind-blowing hills sleeping under green carpet (Tea Gardens) vist - Mattupetty Lake & Dam, Echo Point, Kundale Lake, Blossom Garden, Rajamalai, Eravikulam Wildlife sanctuary & Tea Plantation.


Day 04 :


Drive to Periyar (160 kms/04 hrs) Morning after Proceed to Periyar check in to the Hotel and relax. at the Periyar sanctuary to be set up in 1934, it extends to 777  square kms & forms part of the high mountain ranges, the Western Ghats.  Wild life  can  be  seen while cruising on Periyar Lake in  a  motor  boat. The park encompasses a 26 sq km artificial lake and is the home of sambars, wild boars, elephants and antelopes, which can be occasionally seen on the banks of the river during a boat cruise. Periyar, otherwise, blessed by Nature has enormous tea, coffee, pepper and cardamom plantations and has lush green hills. Overnight.


Day 05 :


Tour of the National park along with boat ride in the lake. Morning boat cruise on Lake Periyar to view the wildlife later visit spice shopping & back to the hotel and relax.


Day 06 :


Drive to Backwater (155 kms/04 hrs) Morning drive to Alleppey check in at House boat . Kettuvalloms or Houseboats (Riceboats) are country boats that were used in the early days for the transport of goods from the isolated interior villages to the towns. With the advent of roads, bridges and ferry services, gradually the kettuvalloms went off the scene. Now these kettuvalloms are back again as a major tourist attraction. A ride on a kettuvallom is a fabulous way to explore the fascinating beauty of the backwaters.


A house boat is about 67 feet in length and has a width of around 13 feet in the middle. The materials that go into the making are all local and Eco friendly bamboo poles, coconut fiber ropes, bamboo mats, coir carpets etc. The main wood used is "Anjili".


The house boats have fully furnished single and double rooms comfortable chairs, kitchen and toilet. In addition there is also separate rest room for the crew. Traditional lanterns are used as lights. The crew includes a chef and two oarsmen. The cuisine is traditional Kerala flavors with the local specialties.


Day 07 :


Whole day sail along the backwaters. Cruise through the Punnamada Lake - the venue of famous Nehru Trophy boat race and Pallathuruthy river. Visiting of Chambakkulam church and the famous race boat - Chambakkulam chundan.Cruise through the Neumudi river, Kuppapuram canal etc. , en route visiting of paddy fields, typical Kerala villages etc..achore the boat for night halt.


Day 08 :


Drive to Kovalam (180 kms/04 hrs) Proceed to Kovalam. The world renowned beach resort of Kerala, Kovalam is situated 16 km south of Trivendrum and is one of the best beaches in India. On account of its natural location, it affords facilities for safe sea bath. A rocky promontory jutting into the sea renders the beach safe for sea bathing even in rough weather. Rest of the day at leisure. Overnight at Kovalam.

Transfer to Trivandrum airport.
